Perhaps you are truly blind to the fact that the Church has a constant tradition of ordaining only baptised males, but that does not excuse you're meanspirited assertion that the Church's declaration that it has no power or authority to ordain women is made for the sake of power or convenience. If only you could begin to see the sincerity of Catholics in being faithful to the Son of God, who despite your foolhardy willingness to wager, Himself only chose men as Apostles and thus his first priests.

George MasonAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3949653926664225332.post-62495568998964907392012-06-16T22:46:54.548-04:002012-06-16T22:46:54.548-04:00Briney, your mistake is to presume that all the la...Briney, your mistake is to presume that all the laity are in favor of discarding the traditional teachings of the Church. Some may in fact do so. Some of the clergy also do so. But, certain teachings will never change because the Church is neither solely the laity nor solely the clergy, but the Body of Christ united to Christ the head whose teaching is the same yesterday, today, and forever. If you "protest" Church teaching, you are in danger of becoming a Protestant.

George MasonAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3949653926664225332.post-81351762200308384002012-05-20T11:36:01.670-04:002012-05-20T11:36:01.670-04:00Sigh, I have to agree with Lceel, but only if the ...Sigh, I have to agree with Lceel, but only if the church is the hierarchy.
The pilgram People of God are doing pretty d&^% fine!

BrineyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3949653926664225332.post-72072715640326364482012-05-15T12:16:26.044-04:002012-05-15T12:16:26.044-04:00I find it interesting that there are those within ...I find it interesting that there are those within the Church who adhere to the approach that the Church should dominate the State. I wonder how those men feel about "Women should be allowed to be Priests" or "Priests should be allowed to - encouraged to - marry" or even "Life begins at conception".

I was raised in the Church. I had good teachers. As a lad, I wanted to become a Maryknoll Missionary. But over time, the Catechism began to make less and less sense to me - by the time I came home from Vietnam, at age 20, it made none at all.

The Church has become archaic and out of touch. The teachings of Christ have been supplanted by the will of men - for the sake of convenience and the continuation of power. And that's a shame. Christ was a Good Man. A Great Man. But he got lost somewhere along the way. The Church has wandered away. I am willing to bet that Jesus would never have said "You are a woman and cannot, therefore, be a priest."Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13024392628362568010noreply@blogger.com
